Our sausages (and burgers) have become so popular that we have had to set up a special production unit just up the road on the edge of Kendal. The unit is a lot bigger than what we had before and allows us to develop all sorts of new recipes in addition to making lots of our pork sausages and the Traditional Cumberland Sausage, with its PGI status, there.
The unit is licensed by the Food Standards Agency and has British Retail Consortium approval as well. A grant from Cumbria Fells and Dales RDPE Leader Group helped us to set up the factory.
It is hoped that the expanded operation will help attract other major supermarkets and retailers to stock Plumgarths products, which also include burgers and meatballs. The factory was officially opened by Joanne Denney-Finch, Chief Executive at food and grocery organization, IGD.
